Céline Chapus

This would be my artist's vanity page. Ha!

So what is there to say about me? Well, my full name is Céline Lan Chapus, and I was born in Paris one cold January day quite a few years ago, to a dashing French gentleman and a beautiful Vietnamese lady. I suppose that alone can account for my love of all things romantic. I'm also terribly fond of bookstores, fine chocolate and all things purple, including but not limited to Victorian men's headgear.

Much of my childhood was spent between an old farmhouse in the south of France, and a northern village so tiny we had to use a neighboring town's zip code. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, finding inspiration in just about anything, from Japanese manga to Botticelli paintings and favorite movies that I'll watch over and over until the DVD cracks (or so it feels like).

Although my imaginary friends childhood support group had much to do with developing the slightly strange person I've become today, I credit my maternal grandfather, a talented painter and architect, with instilling in me a love of creative expression. Grandpa and Grandma--you may no longer be with me, but this is for you!

Movies: Amélie (take note of my Montmartre fetish), Lilo & Stitch, Gladiator, Ever After, Batman Begins...

TV: Buffy!, Sex & the City, Lois & Clark, and more recently, Veronica Mars, So You Think You Can Dance and Project Runway.

Places to be: Bookstores, art stores, Los Angeles, South Beach, Paris, le Louvre museum.
